RISE
Day thirty-one – Today is day thirty-one. Today we want to talk a little bit about family. Your transformation process will be affected by many outside things. Some will try to hold you back and others will be there to support you. Family should be one of the outside inputs that lift you up and strengthens you. They should make you better and help move you forward.
Now, I know this is not always the case. I know that some families, or members of some families, have no spiritual mooring and can actually make this process more difficult. They may not understand why you are doing what you are doing; why you give your hard-earned money to the church; why you read “that book” all the time; why you have to assemble every week, up to three or four times a week with church members. They won’t get it because they don’t see from your perspective. They are viewing things from the valley while you are seeing from the summit.
If family is supportive of your journey then you are truly blessed and need to be thankful and express such toward them and God. If they are not I urge you to see it as an opportunity rather than a hindrance. See it as an opportunity to bring the light to the valley; to spread the Good News; to challenge family to RISE as well.
Of course this means you need to see yourself as light and salt. You are light because you have the truth and can spread it to darkness. Do not be surprised there is darkness, or that it is in your family, just spread the light. You are salt because you bring preservation and richness to life. Your journey could bring eternal salvation to family that at first may seem antagonistic or resistant.
Today is day thirty-one. Hang in there and be the example you need to be. Bring light and life to family. Rejoice and be glad either that you have a family that supports your journey or that you have the opportunity to help them start or further encourage theirs.
